Prospective Students

To be eligible for the CMSP SJV-MedBridge Program, applicants must:

• Be a current community college student interested in exploring a career in medicine (dual-enrollment high school students are not eligible)
• Have completed or be on track to complete at least 12 California community college credits in the San Joaquin Valley
• Not have previously earned an associate or bachelor’s degree

To complete your application, please be prepared to provide the following:

• Personal information, including your email, phone number, and other basic details.
• A digital copy of your transcript (unofficial copies are preferred).
• A 150-word response explaining your interest in the CMSP SJV-MedBridge Program and how it aligns with your academic and career goals.

Make sure to have these materials ready before you begin your application for a smooth submission process.

Is the program in-person or online?

The monthly CMSP SJV-MedBridge sessions are primarily online, but we’re excited to offer a variety of in-person opportunities as well. 

Is there a cost to participate?

No, there is not a registration/program fee.

What does the program schedule look like?

In the MedBridge Minute, students can discover upcoming events, RSVP, and register for both virtual and in-person opportunities, as well as access community and partner events.

When is the application deadline?

Our application is currently closed but typically opens in late July and closes on November 1.

What counties does this program serve?

CMSP SJV-MedBridge serves students across the San Joaquin Valley, including the following counties: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare, and Kern.

What is UCSF Fresno?

UCSF Fresno is the largest academic physician-training program between Sacramento and San Francisco to the north and Los Angeles to the south. Each year, they train about 300 physicians and 300 rotating medical students, including students in the UCSF San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education (SJV-PRIME). 

As a regional campus of the UCSF School of Medicine, UCSF Fresno carries out its training and patient care through a network of affiliated partners. Physicians-in-training at UCSF Fresno experience a wide variety of settings, ranging from rural hospitals and clinics, health agencies and programs, faculty physicians' offices to remote wilderness settings, to one of California's busiest emergency rooms at the region's only Level 1 trauma and burn center. 

In addition to physician training, UCSF Fresno is widening the pathway to medical school for students from the region with a variety of programs.

UCSF Fresno's focus is on improving health in the San Joaquin Valley and Central California through teaching, patient care, research, and community partnerships.
