UCSF Fresno San Joaquin Valley (SJV) Mentoring to Medicine Program
The UCSF Fresno San Joaquin Valley (SJV) Mentoring to Medicine Program is a new offering led by the Office of Health Career Pathways (OHCP) team to enhance the development of aspiring health professionals with roots in the San Joaquin Valley through mentorship and community engagement.
Over the summer, program scholars will be placed at a local clinical site where they will be provided mentorship and clinical exposure from a mentor physician and their team. Additionally, scholars will participate in a service-learning project at a local community-based organization (CBO). Scholars will participate in weekly in-service days at UCSF Fresno where they will develop both clinical and leadership skills from the medical community and the OHCP team. Selected scholars will receive a $3,000 stipend for their full program participation. Program dates run from June 16th to July 18th, 2025.
Currently, this program is only open to individuals who have completed the full 4-year Doctors Academy program (Caruthers, Selma, or Sunnyside High School graduates) or have actively participated in the CMSP SJV-MedBridge Program (California Medicine Scholars Program).
